applique quilt blocks

Make a quilt is much like creating a painting, and generally benefit from having a frame or border, or two. As with the quilt itself, the fabric selection is to determine the appearance of your quilt, and are limited only by your imagination.
The easiest way borders are mere stripes added to the sides of your quilt. Many quilters use the same fabrics that are in their quilt blocks. Other Quilters use completely different tissues.; This adds a dimension or color design presents a new and interesting.
A simple way to add interest to your border is to add cornerstones. They are places in each corner that are different from the fabric used on the border. I began to appreciate the cornerstones when I ran into a fabric edge quilt. Cornerstones filled in the lost tissue.
To add a little more complexity and interest, another option is a or more of its borders. This can be done in a number of different ways. A simple method is to sew rectangles, looking like bars, perpendicular to your quilt.
Another way is part of the border using blocks. For example, you could add a simple line nine plates around the outside of the quilt.
Sometimes, changing the color blocks into your quilt is an efficient border. If the blocks in the center of your quilt in shades of green, you can use shades of blue on the outside of the quilt, using the model block.
Determining the width of the border
As with everything, you have complete freedom of choice regarding the extent of its borders. Artists have made some suggestions, but are just that (suggestions):
* If you have more than one border, varying the width of each, or at least side by side. You could both sides have the same size with a narrow band between them, but generally it adds more interest the quilt to have different widths of the borders.
* Try using a different width of the size of the pieces of your quilt. For example, if your quilt is composed of a square 2 "with a narrow (ie, 1 a" final size) of the border could bring some interest and provide part of the quilt. If only two boundaries, which is generally outside wider than the interior. However, you can make a wide border inside and outside the narrow boundaries.
* Limit the size of the width of the border if a strip of fabric with no arms or by design (eg, billboards or embellish with buttons, laces, appliques ©, or the design of the quilt interesting).
These are all just suggestions for design. Remember that your ita penetration, do what makes you happy.
Happy Quilting!
