Beautiful Fat Quarters

Mardi Gras in Mobile, started in 1703. This date is before the celebration has been observed in New Orleans. For Mobilians, is a time feast and frivolity. One way from the dreary days of winter to spring and summer to return to the Gulf Coast.
Tradition Mardi Gras in Mobile, actually starts in November, with several companies parading a bunch of the afternoon of Thanksgiving. The celebration increases gradually speed until the last 2 weeks before the start of the season of Lent.
Today, there is a company parade very different and it seems that more are added each year. Most companies in the crown of a queen and the court is presented in their annual ball. The bullets themselves are by invitation and those who do not belong to any of these mystic societies, the quest for invitation dance begins early in the year. The balls are official business themselves and the dress code is strictly enforced. For men who includes a tuxedo and tails and women must wear ankle length. Most but not all companies displaying their host annual ball immediately after their parades.
Despite Mardi Gras is not observed nationally, in the south, especially in Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, LA, everything comes to an end on Shrove Tuesday. Court is not meeting and the majority of companies, including banks, near Mardi Gras. Although there appears to be a friendly competition between Mobile and New Orleans, Mardi Gras, each town celebrates in its own way and unique. Of course, mobile is the title of the first city to have Mardi Gras, but nobody can dispute the fact that New Orleans is the biggest celebration. Every town has something unique for visitors coming for the celebration. If you bring children to enjoy the pleasures Mobile may then be a better choice. The crowds are a bit tamer and you do not need to worry so much about what children can see or have to explain the behavior, actually there were only enter your 8 or 9 years. On the other hand, if it is a party animal you are looking for, then New Orleans is the city for you. Each night during Mardi Gras City lets his hair and most everything is permitted. More in the French Quarter, you can take the annual beauty pageant drag queen. Some Ladies show their individual assets, in exchange for beads. The French Quarter during Mardi Gras is not a place where they want to take the children.
Moreover, Mardi Gras fever seems to be contagious too. For many years the only places to actually see the parade and enjoy the pleasure of Mobile and New Orleans, but not in the last decade has really changed. Many small towns of the Gulf Coast are now parading societies. Gulf Shores, Al and Dauphin Island, are towns that are now well organized parades and size of the crowd is very nice and handy. Performances in these towns are perfect for those looking to make small children.
Wherever you decide to attend a Mardi Gras parade is safe to be an unforgettable experience for long. But do not forget to take a bag to keep the good things that are sure to snag in the parades.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding $4.38 Rated: PGSynopsis: Just in time for Valentine's Day comes the DVD release of this wildly popular romantic comedy, the sleeper hit of 2002. And deservedly so: My Big Fat Greek Wedding falls back on tried-and-true conventions of romantic comedy, but it presents them so winningly as to make viewers think they're seeing them for the first time. Nia Vardalos, who wrote the semi-autobiographical screenplay, is that most refreshing of leading ladies -- one who's not "conventionally" beautiful but whose warmth and charm makes her more attractive than most of the walking Kewpie dolls regularly paraded across America's movie screens. She plays Toula, the frumpy daughter of Greek restaurateurs (Michael Constantine and Lainie Kazan) who constantly chide her about remaining unmarried. A diet, some contact lenses, and new makeup transform Toula into an attractive young woman, and before long she has landed herself a handsome fiancé (John Corbett), who must now run the gauntlet of her eccentric relatives to win acceptance into this close-knit family. Vardalos, coming from a similar background, lards her script with keen but loving observations about Greek-American culture. The characters are broadly sketched but rendered with consummate skill by veteran performers who know how far they can go before lapsing into caricature. Director Joel Zwick (Second Sight) wisely lets his cast have its collective say; his main contribution amounts to getting the story moving quickly enough in the first half so that its momentum in the second becomes self-sustaining. Rich in emotion and illuminated by repeated flashes of character-driven humor, this Wedding is one you'll be happy to attend -- over and over. Vardalos, Zwick, and Corbett supply a joint commentary for the DVD, which also includes cast/crew bios. One woman's rocky road to the altar gets played for laughs in this comedy, adapted from the one-woman off-Broadway show written by and starring Nia Vardalos. Toula (Vardalos) is a Greek-American woman who is in her early thirties and single, with no immediate prospects of changing that status any time soon. This bothers Toula a bit, but not half as much as it distresses her mother (Lainie Kazan) and father (Michael Constantine), who want to send her to Greece in hopes of finding a husband in the old country. Toula isn't interested in leaving the country to find a man, but since she works in the family business -- a Greek restaurant in Chicago called Dancing Zorba's -- she has to hear about it whether she likes it or not. One day, after seeing a handsome stranger in the restaurant and not having the courage to talk to him, Toula decides she needs a bit of self-improvement. Despite her dad's misgivings, Toula signs up for a night-school class studying computers, trades in her glasses for contact lenses, gets a different job at a travel agency, and spruces herself up with a new look and a new attitude. To her very pleasant surprise, she once again encounters the handsome str |
