Rag Quilt Asked?
I want to make a rag quilt in a very quick and easy. I thought you "layer cake" which are cotton 10x10 precut. Because they have an edge zigag type, I wonder to what extent the banks Ravel, cut one times. I made a quilt RAG heavy flannel, but my sewing machine sewing can not take the thickness of ~ I broke 2 of my last project .... I can not wait to try a quilt with a damp cotton flannel in the square of batting. Thoughts? I am a Quilter and new sewer I am self-taught, so I'm learning as I go. I do not know the gauge needle ~ where can I get this information? The machine was gift and shipped with a package of needles when broken ~ I just replaced by another. I really wonder if you think a guy zig zag the top edge is Ravel. Let's say I find precut flannel squares and used that instead ~ when you trim the edges and washed and dried I think Ravel would still be good? Thank you!
I assume you're talking about a cutting edge with a blade clash? They fight, too, and always when they clip. (By the way, I suggest that before washing the first time, a giant pillow of a leaf and sew the quilt inside. 'S gonna keep all the lines loose to damage your machine. In fact, wash twice before removing the foil.) Cottons smooth functioning well, too - I saw a terrible RAG quilt with denim or homespun. As for the size of the needle, you want at least a 14/90, and maybe 16 or 18 as the post said earlier. The size should be in the package of the needle, and can be purchased for a few dollars a package anywhere that sells fabric. Get a pair like this should be changed every 8-10 hours of sewing, even if not broken. The package that comes with your machine probably a great variety and was probably one of the correct size. Incidentally, the about.com site has much information sew well - you could be worth a look. http://sewing.about.com/od/beginner1/bb/sewing101.htm
