Can someone please give me different ways of doing this problem?
Amilia is making a quilt for her bed. her bed is 60 inches wide and 78 inches long. She wants the quilt to hang over on each side and on the end by at least 12 inches. on the finished quilt, the blocks will be 6 inch suqares with 1.5 inches strips bettween them and around the edges. What is the minimum number of squares she will need to make.
Okay the answer is in the 130 please help i allready have one way of doing it but i need another way to do this problem it is for school so thank you if you could leave mulitple methods of doing it you will be assured the 10 points
Are you sure? Each square with the strip on one horizontal edge and one vertical edge is 7.5 X 7.5. Each column from top to bottom will have (78+12-1.5)/(7.5) = 12 squares(it's actually 1.5 inches less than 12 squares but you still have to trim the edge). The length will be 91.5 inches. The width of each column is 7.5 inches. So figure how many across and multiply by 12. The width covered by squares is 60+12+12-1.5 = 82.5 inches.
